Store Lee Valley Gränsfors Splitting Axes

Hand made by professional smiths in a small factory in Sweden, Gränsfors axes are a pleasure to use. They have grace, heft and balance that reflect good design and craftsmanship.

Forged with concave, wedge-shaped heads designed for splitting, these axes have steel collars to reduce damage from overstrikes. The small axe, with a 2 lb head, a 2 3/4″ face, and a 23″ handle, can be managed with one hand. The large axe has a 3″ face, a 3.5 lb head, and a 27 1/2″ handle.

Each axe is marked with the initials of the smith who forged it, and is fully honed, ready for use. Supplied with a full-grain leather case and an informative booklet outlining proper usage, cutting techniques and care instructions.
